Actor Leonardo DiCaprio, recognized by the films he stars, is also a concerned citizen of the planet. Currently, his attention is focused on Brazil, especially the Amazon, where the increase in burning has become world news. Its foundation, created in 1998 to help social and environmental causes, will donate $ 5 million to help reverse the environmental chaos in Brazil, according to the BBC news agency.

In his instagram, DiCaprio posted that “he is deeply concerned about the ongoing crisis in the Amazon, which highlights the delicate balance of climate, biodiversity and well-being of indigenous peoples.” The organizations that receive the money are the Protected Forest Association Institute (Kayapo), Coordination of Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon (COIAB), Kabu Institute (Kayapo), Raoni Institute (Kayapo) and Socio-Environmental Institute (ISA).

Earth Alliance was founded by DiCasprio and two other philanthropists in July – with the goal of protecting wildlife, lobbying for climate justice and guaranteeing indigenous rights. The Amazon Forest Fund is the group’s initiative to raise money to protect this specific area.
